The Friends of King Charles Church

The Friends’ principal work for our Church is in the organisation and manning of a rota of people for ‘Church Watch’. The Friends arrange a daily watch to provide everyone, members of the congregation and visitors alike, with the opportunity to enjoy the peaceful interior of the church.

The Friends also organise social events and other fund-raising activities, the main social event being the garden party. The Friends recently provided a public address and hearing-aid loop system for the Church Hall and upper meeting room and make regular gifts to maintain and enhance the church furnishings.

The annual King Charles Lecture is sponsored by the Friends of King Charles Church and is on a subject related to the life and times of King Charles the First.

The King Charles Fellowship

The Fellowship is a flourishing group of some 50 members who meet regularly to listen to a ‘marvellous variety of speakers who entertain, delight and instruct us.’ Events also include an outing, garden party and Christmas party.

The Guild of Service

The Guild comprises a loyal and dedicated band of volunteers who ensure that the church is cleaned on a weekly basis, supporting and enhancing the work of contract cleaners employed for the church and hall.

A rota of members of the congregation also ensures that the church is always enhanced with beautiful flower arrangements.

Social Committee

The Social Committee provides at least one social event each quarter, such as the Harvest Supper, quiz nights etc.

The Mission to Seafarers

This group organised through the church membership raises funds for the Mission through Coffee Mornings and Sales and arranges visits to related sites.
