At King Charles the Martyr, the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and vulnerable adults is a fundamental responsibility.
We take safeguarding seriously and are committed to maintaining a welcoming, respectful and safe environment for everyone in our church community.
Is someone in immediate danger?
If a child or adult is at immediate risk of harm, call the police immediately on 999. Do not delay reporting an emergency while trying to contact the church.

What to Do if You Are Concerned
If you are worried about a child, young person or vulnerable adult, it is important to take the concern seriously and seek appropriate help.
If someone is at immediate risk
Contact the police on 999 without delay.
This includes situations in which a child or adult is in immediate danger of being harmed.
If you are concerned about someone's safety
Contact the appropriate local authority children's or adult safeguarding service as soon as possible.
You may also contact our Parish Safeguarding Officer or the Diocese of Rochester for safeguarding guidance.

Promoting a Safer Church
King Charles the Martyr follows national Church of England safeguarding guidance.
At its meeting on 4 June 2023, the Parochial Church Council (PCC) unanimously adopted Promoting a Safer Church, the Safeguarding Policy for Parishes.
The Vicar and Churchwardens signed the resolution confirming the adoption of the policy.
